Here we are in January 2025. There's nothing like starting a new year with a new hairstyle to rejuvenate your look and kickstart the New Year with a bang. Well bangs or a layered fringe, as we call it on this side of the Atlantic is one of the looks for 2025. So from futuristic cuts to vibrant hues, here's what the experts at Avalon hairsalon, Crouch End have to say about what's upcoming in the world of hair year!
This is one of the throwbacks that us at Avalon Hair Studios are so happy to see come back. The shaggy layered look is on the streets of London but this one comes with a modern twist! This classic 70s style is getting an update with more versatility and texture. Whether you're rocking it with curtain bangs/fringe, tousled layers, or a choppy bob, the shag cut brings a carefree vibe and a lot of movement to your hair. It’s perfect for those who want low-maintenance yet high-impact hair.
Staying with the retro vibe, we have the Bixie. This fusion of the bob and the pixie cut gives this modern, low maintenance haircut a great option for anyone that wants to make a statement this year.
The blunt bob continues to reign supreme, but in 2025, it's more angular and precise. This cut is sharp, sleek, and adds an element of sophistication. The key difference for 2025 is the length, it is getting shorter! This bob is right up to the chin. It’s bold, striking and oh so chic.
If you’re not into the chop, long hair still holds strong in 2025—but with a new emphasis on layers and texture. Think lush, voluminous waves paired with layers that provide movement and volume without weighing your hair down. The key here is to make long hair look as natural and effortless as possible while avoiding a flat, one-length style.
Color is where things are really getting exciting in 2025. From unconventional shades to sophisticated takes on the classics, the color trends are designed to make a statement.
I know this sounds like a contradiction. Brunette was always the cheaper option, where blondes were the purse drainers. Well let me tell you that times have changed. It’s been revealed that 2025 is shaping up to be all about brunettes and not just the one colour fits all but an array of shades. "But why do they call it the expensive brunette" I can hear you say. Well it's not just a colour. It's about enhancing the natural depth and richness of brunette hair, creating a look that’s sophisticated. This trend focuses on subtle variations of tone and depth, making the hair appear lustrous and rich. Unlike high-contrast highlights or stark colour changes, this brunette colour is all about a seamless blend of similar shades, lending an effortlessly luxurious look.
So this year we are set to see a whole lot of red on the streets. From Cowboy Copper to Cherry Cola. 2025, is all about the warm tones in hair color, and one of my all-time favorite warm hair color trends is the Cherry Cola. This combination of rich Red and deep Brunette gives a dimensional look that will make you stand out from the crowd. Be bold or go home!
Last but certainly not least is the Buttery Blonde. This beautiful blonde is a warm, golden hue that adds a sunny glow to your hair. Butter blonde sits somewhere between a yellow '90s blonde (think: Pamela Anderson and Baby Spice) and something creamier to give it a soft-focus finish.
